Power from wind turbines is much more expensive than predicted: It is true that the cost of wind energy is more than the cost of the wind turbines themselves. This also applies to other energy sources. It is also true that the variability of wind energy is complex and entails additional costs for integration into the grid. With a 20% share of wind energy, these total integration costs are 0.1 to 0.4 euro cents per kWh. If these costs are only charged to the wind energy itself, this will cost 0.5 to 2 eurocent per kWh. Compared to the basic costs of wind energy (see article: Compare renewable electricity sources in the Netherlands) this corresponds in the worst case to 10 to 230% additional costs.
